Rossiter Postal History Journal Vol.8

Rossiter Postal History Journal Vol.8, by the Stuart Rossiter Trust.

Published by the Stuart Rossiter Trust, 2008.  S/B, 110pp.

The eighth volume in this popular series contains two articles - ‘The Post Office - The Other Side of the Counter, or What the Customer Does Not See', by Robert Johnson, and ‘Netherlands East Indies Postal History 1789-1877', by Richard Wheatley.  The former essay discusses post office notices, regulations, training, and other similar issues.  Wheatley's article covers postmarks and postal rates of the VOC period between 1789 and 1808, the French and British Occupation periods (1808-1816), the inland and overseas Dutch colonial period between 1816 and 1877, and the Freedom of Postage privilege from 1789 to 1863.  Illustrated in black & white and colour.
